Not really, but close. Christmas Eve I was in Rolla taking care of some last minute details. I went to go pay for a parking ticket at the Police Station and the bastards threw me in jail!
Back in September, I received a 5 dollar parking ticket for parking in the Yellow near campus. Because it was only 5$ I neglected to play it. When I was home for Thanksgiving break I received a letter saying that due to my lack of cooperation in paying my 5$ parking ticket I now owe 25$. Once again, I neglected to pay this and while at home for Christmas break I received a letter saying that I had a warrant out for my arrest and a bail bond set at $139!
Right away I headed to Rolla to take care of this, making sure to obey all traffic laws. I figured I could just pay the bond and settle everything in a matter of minutes at the station. Unfortunately, that's not the way the US legal system works (or at least the Phelps County law). In order for them to take my money, I had to get arrested and booked by an officer. So Officer Vogt booked me, took my photo and other information, set me in a cell for about 10 minutes. I then paid my bond and was free to go.
I have a court date January 22nd where supposedly I'll get most of my bond money back. Now I have an arrest record for a 5 dollar parking ticket. That makes me feel like a true bad ass.
